Believe it or not, Juice Pack Plus ($120) is actually the third all-but-identical iPhone 5 battery case in Mophie’s extended rollout of the line. As the name suggests, it offers a larger capacity battery than either Juice Pack Helium or Juice Pack Air; this one is packing 2100mAh, and Mophie claims that it offers up to 120% battery life — our prior tests suggest that it’ll come in considerably lower than that. Physically, it looks a lot like the…

The 5.5” by 2.75” plastic and aluminum box is the kind of case that requires a complicated installation process. Of the three separate layers of the case, the rear tray is the largest: it’s lined with shock-absorbent rubber around the edges and back, thick enough so that the iPhone 5 is held firmly in place when inserted, and deep enough the the device is fully recessed. Next goes the aluminum bezel frame, coupled with the non-adhesive…

Q: I used my iTunes account on my ex’s iPhone. When we broke up I deleted his iPhone from my iTunes devices. However, as I’ve just brought myself an iPhone, I found out that my apps, music, etc, are still syncing with his iPhone. How do I stop this? – Gillian A: Unfortunately, removing an iOS device from your Devices list in iTunes doesn’t actually disassociate the device with your iTunes in the Cloud account as far as the device…

cores. Although the exact shapes are different, they each offer the same amount of coverage, down to the size of the openings. The Sleep/Wake and volume buttons are covered with raised rubber, which is protective but does not diminish the tactility at all; it’s the way button protection is supposed to be done. Above the volume up button, there’s an opening for the side switch. It may be just a little too small for those with large…

Incase’s Meta Slider for iPhone 5 ($35) is one of the company’s first real innovations to the style in several years. The new case combines a hard plastic back with rubber around the edges, including button protection. Rather than a simple cap, the removable bottom is four inches long and juts behind the phone with a pad of microsuede for protection. It’s certainly an interesting new option from Incase, and available in either black and grey or white…

Shock Slider for iPhone 5 ($50) is new from Incase, and not all that different from the company’s recent System Vise. The case is composed of three pieces: a rubber skin that can be used on its own, plus hard plastic that slides on from the top and bottom for extra protection. This allows you to choose how much coverage you need, when you need it. Sleep/Wake and volume button protection is built into the case, which comes in black and grey or…

Of the cases in Incase’s Systm lineup, Hammer for iPhone 5 ($30) is the least complex, and the least expensive. It’s a single-piece rubber case, with Poron XRD inside surrounding the glass portions of the rear panel. The material is also thicker in those areas, adding even more drop protection. Between those bulges, the back is knurled — the kind of diamond-patterned texture you’ll often find on tools. The Sleep/Wake and volume buttons are covered,…

Revo 360 is a one-piece case. Whereas we were impressed by the quality of the silicone Griffin used, this material feels cheaper. The base color is augmented by a black, white, or grey ring covering the bezel around these screen. On the two units we received, there were small molding problems, which we first noticed here. While the efficacy of the case isn’t impacted, seeing inconsistencies such as bubbles, rough edges, and overlapping rubber…
